Pussy Cat, Pussy Cat, Where Have You Been??

Well ... I haven't been to London to visit the queen, I have to confess! :0) But things at the Meares' Madhouse have been pretty busy and crazy ...  the end of August through September is our busiest month or so for the year ... and it's been even more so this year. Let me catch you up a bit.

First there was a blogging pop-up-party. :0) Emails back and forth let the Fabulous Fiona and I know that Maria and her Sweetie had trekked across to QLD from Western Australia and were going to be passing through our hilltop home. Well ... Fiona and I are getting pretty good at pop-up-bog-meets, as we've had a few in the last few months ... fun!! :0) So ...

... we enjoyed  a fun ... and DELICIOUS! ... catch up. Thanks for popping in for a visit Maria! It was lovely to catch up in 'real life' after chatting via blogs for a while now. Hope the rest of your travels include more fun meet-ups. :0)

Then this last weekend we headed off for a little road trip. We had a special birthday to help celebrate on the Sunday (more about that later) so we decided to treat ourselves to a little break ... the first 'real' break since before we moved last year. So we hit the road ...

... and ended up at the top of another hill at Montville. This is one of our favourite places to spend time ... this was our lunch time view ... over rolling green hills, rain forest and out to the ocean. NICE!! :0) We were slowed down a little by poor GB's broken foot, but he's surprisingly spry on his crutches, so we were still able to snoop through the interesting little shops before heading to our accommodation ... in the next town over, Maleny. Bit of a misunderstanding there thanks to online booking, but all worked out OK.

This was our back deck. We were about three stories up from ground level in the tree tops. (Someone asked me if I had run off for the weekend with 'Where's Wally' ... it's GB's Bronco's jersey, but definitely distinctive! Tee! Hee! Hee!) The steps were a bit of a challenge for GB, but once we were up, we settled in for some quiet relaxation ...

... chippies and cider ... the relaxing snack of champions! :0) There was also some soaking in the double spa ... but I won't scare you with pics!!! Tee! Hee! Hee! The next morning we headed off in search of somewhere to have brekkie ...

And what better place than a spot called le Jardin. A French cafe/garden centre/gift shop. Coffee and croissant, coffee and crepes ... AAAAAAHHH!! If only we could do this every day ... though we'd end up as big as a house pretty quick. :0) There may have been some more browsing of shops before we visited the Maleny Cheese cafe and stocked up on some cheesy treats ready for lunch.

Sunday we headed off to help celebrate that special birthday ... GB's Gran Kent was turning 100. Talk about a milestone! Now, Gran's memory isn't what it used to be and she isn't able to move around much, but she just keeps ticking along.

Here is GB with his youngest sister Kylie and her two gorgeous gals with Gran Kent. She sat up like a queen (even gave the royal wave!!) and blew out her candles like a trooper. I think her favourite part was a balloon game with the younger family members, though ... decades of tennis reflexes kicked in and she was batting that balloon around to beat the band. :0) There were four generations from several of the family branches on hand to help celebrate. It was a very special occasion.

That brings us up to date, but the craziness continues ... GB's Mum's 70th party is this weekend, the one after is Stitchers' Dream Day Out (WOO! HOO!!), then the next weekend is our Carnival of Flowers and also Creative Fields ... see ... busy!! I promise to show you some photos, but can't promise when I'll get back to share. :0)

And in all the busy-ness ... don't forget to send me or Sweet Peg your OPAM finishes for August ... the blog hopping is about to commence, so you'd better be quick!!!

Right ... I'm off to keep an overdue appointment with my pillow. Hope you're all being kind to yourselves and having a great week! Til next time ...

BEAR HUGS!

CHEERS!
KRIS

Wow Kris, what a whirlwind! So cool that you were able to celebrate the 100th birthday, what a milestone. Seems the GB's ankle hasn't slowed him down too much. Hope you enjoy the celebrations and fun weekends coming up!
